Derbys Open Arts event. Special student rate.

As you may know, Derbyshire Open Arts is an annual arts event, held over Spring Bank Holiday week-end, 25th to 27th of May 2013, in which artists and craftspeople open up their studios or exhibit in various venues across the county.

For the first time we are offering a special rate for students to join this event.

Derbyshire Open Arts receives no external funding, so we need to make a charge to cover promotion, advertising and in particular, the brochure.

The charge for students will be £30 (half the usual individual rate), which includes an entry with brief details, and an image, in the brochure and on the website.

Although we do not provide venues – participants need to find their own – we can put artists in touch with venue providers. The venue we would assume be in or on the borders of Derbyshire no such restrictions on participants.

Application forms are online now; visit www.derbyshireopenarts.co.uk

For enquiries or to join our database contact info@derbyshireopenarts.co.uk with contact details. At which point we will give as much assistance as possible.

Brochures are distributed all over the county and beyond; this year over 20,000 visitors came to see our artists’ work. Worth thinking about!

Audition for a world premiere - Theatre - Belper News

Audition for a world premiere - Theatre - Belper News

AUDITIONS are being held later this month in Derby for a world premiére production.
Uncontained Arts (a professional theatre company established in 2008 by former graduates of the University of Derby Theatre Arts course, based at Derby Theatre) and Theatre Works (also based at the theatre) are giving budding actors and artistes the opportunity to be part of a company who will produce and present a brand new musical adaptation of Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes at Derby Theatre in November.
Auditions are being held on July 21-22 , 10am – 5pm in the Kirtley Building, at the University of Derby’s Kedleston site and are open to anyone aged 18-plus from Derbyshire and surrounding counties.
The audition panel is looking for enthusiastic, passionate and committed performers who can sing and act and who are interested in being part of a world premiére of a brand new musical adaptation of a world famous book, and who must be available for rehearsals during August, September and October.
As this is a community project; it is realised that individuals may have other commitments (especially at this time of year) so rehearsals may, to an extent, be scheduled around the company’s availability as a whole.
Previous performance experience is not essential, although it would be an advantage).
Auditionees will be asked to prepare and present a one-minute musical piece during the audition e.g. sing a verse and two choruses of a personally chosen song.
