Loca Film & Video Work Experience & Mentoring Opportunities - Derby uni students & grads
Jet Productions: Work Experience & Mentoring Opportunities
Banks Mill, Derby
Jason Elberts graduated from Derby University in 2010 with a First Class Honours Degree in Film & Video Production. After working as a freelance cameraman and editor for many companies, he set up Jet Productions with his friend Brett Turner and based the company in the Evolve business incubator units at Banks’ Mill, Derby. Jet produces videos for a wide variety of businesses, including music videos, company promotional videos and events, to name a few.
Last summer Jason and Brett gave several Derby University students work experience where they spend a week getting to know the company and its work and, uniquely for a small local film company, gave the students facilities and guidance to write, direct, shoot and edit their own videos.
Jason and Brett have now formalised their work-experience offering by becoming mentors for the University of Derby Employer Mentoring Scheme managed by the Career Development Centre. They are looking for students from a wide variety of degree courses – film & video production, designers, artists, web designers, set builders and anyone else interested in the sector – to come forward for a week or two of intensive mentoring and work experience, with opportunities to produce their own work as above.
Students who prove to be a good fit for the company and who display aptitude for the work may be offered paid experience in the future.
Derby Uni students/grads who are interested in this amazing experience should contact Christine Dare in the Career Development Centre, Kedleston Road (email: C.Dare@derby.ac.uk, Tel 10332 591316).
