You are what you wear.. or are you?

The International Centre for Guidance Studies at the University of Derby is undertaking a project regarding current undergraduates’ views on appearance in the workplace. The research is centred upon issues relating to career, inter-personal skills, self-presentation and attractiveness.  We’re interested in finding out how appearance affects career choices, and whether things like dress and behaviour influence an individual’s  success at work.

We are interviewing students from a range of degree subjects.  The interviews take approx. an hour of your time, and the information you provide will be used anonymously in the production of an article.  Hopefully, our research will help careers advisers to better support students in their job search.

Professional Development Planning
Monday 7 July 2014, 10am - 1pm
Denby House Business Centre, Loscoe

Professional Development Planning (PDP) provides an opportunity for you to explore your current position as an artist, and to gain clarity regarding future steps you might take, with the help of a guide who will assist you in the goal planning process.
During the session, which will be delivered in a small group, you will look at your past journey, your present creative life balance, and how you can overcome barriers and confidence issues and identify the support you most need.
You will have the opportunity to both concentrate individually on your own personal path, and to discuss points of general concern with fellow artists. Opportunities available for artists within Derbyshire will also be explored. Participants will complete a pre-session questionnaire to assess their needs so that the workshop can be tailored appropriately.
The session will be delivered by Cathy Grindrod (www.cathygrindrod.co.uk), a Derbyshire writer, tutor and mentor specialising in managing and facilitating creative projects to improve wellbeing.

Venue & Parking Info
The workshop will be held at Denby House Business Centre. There is a small car park on site  For directions and parking information click here.

Refreshments
We will provide tea & coffee at the event but unfortunately we are unable to provide lunch for participants.
